Finsbury Park

I was 5 months ago that I last wrote a blog post.

Walking across the sun-scorched grass in Hyde Park in my shorts and cooling down with an overpriced Magnum seems a world away from the storms of the last couple of weeks.

In fact nothing’s been the same since we welcomed our beautiful son Arthur into the world on the 12th of September.

Father and Son on Christmas morning

Just six weeks after Arthur we finally completed our move to the country.

I know that Finsbury Park isn’t actually in the countryside (in fact we’re still in zone 2), but compared to the centre of Camden Town it really does feel like it.

Its so nice to have plenty of space, and even a small garden (already christened with a Christmas BBQ), but I never want to go through the process of buying a house in London again. Horrible.

2013 has been a tough year, but fulfilling nonetheless.

I don’t think I’ll be undertaking anything quite as challenging on two wheels in 2014, and we certainly won’t be moving house again anytime soon.

We ended the year with a quiet night in, and doing something we intended to do 12 months previously.

I put this bottle of Champagne in the fridge on Boxing Day 2012 before heading to Istanbul for a few days – not anticipating that news of Arthur’s impending arrival would prevent us from consuming it on New Years Eve.

It tasted all the better for the extra refrigeration.
